If you’re aged 14 – 18-years-old, our FREE taster sessions are your chance to experience what The Orchard Equine College is an what we are about.You will meet our expert Tutors & Assessor's, experience real course activities and get up close and personal with our horses; plus, you’ll meet other potential students so there are familiar faces when you enroll.
Equine Courses
Level 1 Horse care
The Level 1 Horse Care Course is designed to provide students with the skills and a vocational qualification so they can work within the equine industry.
Level 2 Diploma in Equine management
The Level 2 Diploma in Horse Care Course is designed to provide students with the skills and a vocational qualification so they can work within the equine industry. The course is offered as a riding and a non-riding course. The Level 2 Diploma in Horse Care is suitable for those who have achieved Level 1 in Horse Care or have relevant industry experience.
Level 2 Apprenticeship – Equine Groom
Students who successfully complete a Level 1 Horse Care qualification, or have the equivalent experience, may undertake the Level 2 Apprenticeship. This programme includes a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship Standard together with Functional Skills in English and Maths at a minimum Level 1.
Completed largely at the student’s place of work with One College day per week.
Tutor visits every 4 - 6 weeks with a final one-day assessment
Open to anyone aged 16 or over who works more than 30 hours per week within a practical equine discipline
Successful completion can lead onto the Level 3 Apprenticeship
Level 3 Advanced diploma in Equine management
The Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Equine Management is designed to provide students with skills and a vocational qualification so they can work within the equine industry. A Level 2 Certificate in Horse Care and management is needed to apply for this course.
Level 3 Apprenticeship- Senior equine groom
The Level 3 Apprenticeship is an ideal way for students to increase their existing knowledge. Completion of this course is a statement of practical competence to perform the required duties in the role. This programme includes a Level 3 Senior Equine Groom together with Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2.
Completed largely at the student’s place of work with One College day per week.
